Morning Message

We read "When I'm Scared" thereafter, we discussed about the story.  We then practiced reading the morning message. We practiced Choral, Eco, and Partner Reading.  Few volunteers were then asked to circle some words from the morning message.

Afterwords, we practice writing letter "D" in our Phonics book # 2.

Islamic Studies:
We sang very interactive and fun nasheed about Salah. We then practiced performing Salah. Zaid was our Imam (under my guidance) for the day.The Children did very well. MashaAllah!

Language:
We are almost at the end of Phonics book #2. Please continue with your amazing work. Your hard work is greatly appreciated.

Reading Program Workshop

November 17, 2011.

Dear Parent/Guardian,

Senior Kindergarten is an exciting phase in a child’s life. The success that children experience during this time can have a lasting effect on his/her future. Our goal in the Senior Kindergarten is to ensure that every child achieves his/her full potential. For that reason, we will be holding workshop this Friday November 25, 2011   to promote the Early Literacy Program. The workshop will take place in the S.K classroom between 4:00-4:30pm. Dr. Aisha Sheraze will present the workshop.

The workshop will cover the following points

Ø  What is done in SK to support reading and early literacy.

Ø  What the reading program offers children.

Ø  How parents can help support the program from home.

Ø  Other games and activities that may work well.

Please come early and take advantage of this once in lifetime workshop.

Trip to Cosmic Adventure

our trip to cosmic adventure was amazing. The children had great time playing in all of the stations. The little ones were so tried, most of them slept on our way from cosmic. I have great pictures of your prince/princess let know if you want me to email them to you.  Thank you to our wonderful parent volunteer (Sana's mom).

Today for Language We practiced:

1.  The sound of letter "C".
2. Sounding out and reading words which begin with letter "C" (such as Cat and Car).
3.  Choral, Eco and Partner Reading

Library: The students did not take a book today due to the Book Fair.

Reading strategies

Today we practiced the following Reading strategies:
Choral Reading: I read a sentence.  The students echo what I just read (while I points to the words).
Eco Reading: students echoing the words after me.
Thereafter, I divided the students into 2 groups. Group 1 read the first half of the message and group 2 finished the message. MashaAllah! The students did very well. The students enjoyed this type of reading.
